Big Ambitions 1.0: Everything the Full Release Changed

Big Ambitions left Early Access on 28 August 2026, 1,267 days after its Early Access launch on 10 March 2023. This page lists what actually changed, sourced from Hovgaard Games’ own release announcements rather than from community summaries — which matters here, because most guidance you will find online was written against Early Access 0.9 or 0.10.

The Hamptons: A Seventh Neighborhood

The Hamptons is mostly residential, but it carries a small upmarket retail strip with new luxury stores, plus mansions you can buy outright. Some of those homes belong to familiar characters — Uncle Fred, his golfing rival Richard, and your special rivals, unless you have already driven them out of the city. Gated-community properties come with a private dock.

For reference, house prices in the Hamptons run from roughly $18.4 million at the entry tier to $85.5 million at the top tier — this is very much a late-game destination, not a starter suburb.

Private Driver

A long-requested feature. Set up a contract with Onyx Luxury Chauffeurs, drop a vehicle in their garage, and you can summon a driver whenever you need a ride. Any vehicle works, from Uncle Fred’s cheap Honza up to a luxury Anselmo, and there is a new Onyx-exclusive limo if you want the full mogul experience. See vehicles guide.

Speedy Bites Food Delivery

Food now comes to you. Call Speedy Bites and it arrives at your home or business — and if you need quick cash, you can run deliveries for them yourself. That makes it one of the few genuine early-game income options that does not involve a storefront.

Banking, Rebuilt

This is the change with the widest ripple effect, because it invalidates a lot of older advice:

  • Negative interest is gone. Hovgaard’s own wording: while negative interest is real, it is not common, and they decided it was time to remove it. Any guide that tells you to work around negative interest is describing the old game.
  • Loans now require more income to qualify and carry higher interest rates and higher minimum daily payments — but the maximum loan from Vantander Bank is larger, and you can make partial payments.
  • Investments support daily auto-investing, show more detailed growth information, and allow partial withdrawals without closing the account.

Taxes Rebalanced

Taxes were rebalanced with more deductions to encourage year-over-year growth and offset what you owe. Late taxes now carry a 10% fee, but partial payments are allowed if you cannot cover the full amount. Taxes also now appear in the EconoView panel, showing whether you currently owe anything and estimating next year’s bill. See taxes guide.

HQ Pricing Manager

A new headquarters employee who can update prices for every item across an entire neighborhood at once. Higher-skilled pricing managers also suggest the best price each day. If you have been repricing stores by hand, this is the hire that gives you your evenings back. Covered in the pricing guide.

Three Minigames

Ways to pass in-game time other than skipping it:

  • Brick Breaker — playable on your home computers
  • Halcyon Fairway — a golf driving range, Hamptons homeowners only; land the ball in targets for points
  • A Racket of Love — a tennis court, also Hamptons-exclusive

Quality of Life Changes Worth Knowing

Several of these change how existing systems behave, not just how they look:

  • Energy burns faster when hunger and happiness are low. Eat a couple of times a day and keep happiness at least half full and you are fine.
  • Exporting now moves the import price index. Over-export an item and its import/export price drops for the rest of that week — so over-production has a market cost now.
  • Clicking the nightclub dance floor opens dancing options, which boost happiness.
  • Store items now display their customer capacity and any placement requirements (such as needing to sit on a cabinet).
  • Inventory distributes more evenly across your stores — two empty cash registers and one box of paper bags now split the stock instead of the first register taking everything.
  • Import orders are no longer cancelled if your purchasing agent is off sick.
  • Importer UI now shows box size when ordering.
  • A few achievements were made more realistic, specifically the Aging and casino-winnings ones.
  • Smaller fixes: collapsible scheduler filters, renaming workstations from inside a business, sitting down while reading, “Delete All Contacts” limited to a selected category, more visible Business School doors when walls are hidden, shift to navigate VoogleMaps faster, the game pausing after you pass out and wake in hospital, marketing auto-connecting the right store when called from BizMan, decimal places on employee wages, and default layouts now including bathroom lighting.

What Comes After 1.0

Hovgaard has stated the studio is continuing with patches, content updates and eventually a couple of DLCs. No dates have been published. What that means in practice, based on the Early Access cadence, is on the roadmap page.

Why Your Old Guide Is Wrong

If you are cross-checking this page against something else you found, note the dates: the highest-ranking Steam discussions on business profitability are from March 2023, the most-cited Reddit profitability thread was written against version 0.9, and the community wiki’s own business list stops before the EA 0.10 entertainment update. None of them describe the game that shipped on 28 August 2026.
